What is a good starter book for an all girl's book club?

Hi, me and my group of 5 friends started a book club. We are now researching a book that we would all like to read. Here are the "requirements" that we'd like the book to be:

-under 400 pages

-has something to do with a 13-18 year old girl

-any genre

-has a deep meaning

I really want the first book we read to be memorable!

Thanks!!!

Why not start with one of the classics for women, "Jane Eyre" would be a good place to start (and you may have to read it later in school anyway so you'll be ahead!)

There's also "Emma" , "Little Women" , or my daughters' very favorite "Anne of Avonlea"
The Gossip Girls series is so great and addicting. I also reccomend Sisterhood of the Traveling pants, its perfect for a group of friends because thats what the books are all about. What is a good starter book for an all girl's book club?
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. and then the 3 after that. ive read them all. i liked them.

also, try books by Hailey Abbott. they may not be 400 pages long, but she writes some amazing books. like the summer boys series. i fell in love with those.

*Before I Die by Jenny Downham

*City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

*The Luxe by Anna Godberson

*Penelope by Marilyn Kaye

Also consider

*Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

*The Golden Compass

*Mother of Pearl

*White Oleander
Kissing Doorknobs by Terry Spencer

Speak by Laurie Anderson
Most of the books by Laurie Halse Anderson would work (the exception being Twisted which is about a boy). Speak is pretty deep and deals with rape, so while it's good I probably would recommend Prom or Fever 1793.

The Bad Girls Club by Rhian Tracey is a novel about an all-girls book club and suggest some good books within it - one of them is Carolyn Mackler's Love and Other Four Letter Words, I think. It's a good book in its own right, too.
Lovely Bones
