Any ideas how to liven up a book club?

I belong to a book club with about 7-10 other woman I like the books %26amp;talking about them but the last one was just boring. Next month will be at my house I was looking for something fun to do. Any ideas?Any ideas how to liven up a book club?
We are part of a mother/daughter book club. We have played a game at the beginning of our meeting just to get us involved with the story we read. One game is to write in cards some of the characters, places, or other important things if the book, then tape one to the back of each person ( the person with it on their back cannot see it) then that person must ask questions to the others until they guess what their card says. You could, if you wanted, have a reward/ prize as each one guessed correctlys , such as nice chocolate. I hope I explained the game well. I love our bookclub.
What if you made snacks? Cookies, brownies, fruit salads are some good options. You could also make the meeting shorter so that it doesn't go on and on. You don't even have to do it at your house you could also do it at a quiet restaurant. I suggest taking maybe 10-20 minutes on the meeting, and using the rest of the time to just have a regular conversation and eat dinner or lunch! As i said don't let the meeting die by itself, just say what you have to and move on. I suggest the next time you pick out a book, pick one that's been made into a movie so that you and your friends can have something to look forward to. You can spot out the differences between the book and the movie and have a great time!Any ideas how to liven up a book club?
Come as a character night?

You could have some games, perhaps you could watch the movie version of the book if there is one and compare the novel and movie.

Make your living-room feel like the novel, if set in a certain period have snacks and foods from that time. If you have your house feel like a certain setting in the novel it might make it more interesting. E.g. If the novel is set in 19th Century America in the old west, maybe ask them to dress appropriately for the setting, and have candles and lamps (oil, kerosene) for the lights. And for food, a roast chook (if you are American, that is Australian slang for a chicken)...

Just some ideas.

Or perhaps it was the book last time and you need a new one.

EDIT ~

If there hasn't been a movie made yet have a discussion and vote on which famous actors/actresses would be good for the role.

Quiz, games (might have already said this), and add atmosphere with some music.
Sherry, I recommend taking the time (and using online resources) to come up with some intriguing discussion questions. Possibilities include:

Given the circumstances up to page x, where [name an event] happens, how else could the story have turned out? Let's write a new ending.

What actors would you cast in the main roles if this were to be a movie? What about a made-for-TV movie?

How would the story have changed if the setting were not what it is, but 18th century France, or Russian in the 1950s, or feudal Japan, or on a human colony on another world? Could the story have worked in any other setting?

How would the story change if the main character were of the opposite gender? Would he or she still have behaved as s/he did, or would that have been inappropriate or unacceptable for the opposite-gender character in that setting?

What would change if the character remains the gender s/he is, but is much older as the story unfolds?

Questions like this can make readers examine the work in a very different way.Any ideas how to liven up a book club?
You may want to do a fun quiz on famous books, decide on a famous novel based Dress theme for the get together and also may want to dedicate the day to the most popular writer in your group. :)
Is this about books or writing if its about writing try to find articles about amazing writers who didnt think they could make it. and show them that you can do it if u believe
You could come dressed up as one of the book characters you are currently reading. Lol, but that may be a bit childish.
Watch the movie Jane Austen Club, you could get some ideas.
U can make up some games to play or get some drinks livin everyone up.
