Good movies with book clubs in them...recommendations please?

Hi,

I am looking for a good movie to watch with a book club in it. I have watched Jane Austen's Book Club, and really liked it so I was hoping to be able to find some other movies involving a book club.

Nothing rated higher than a 12a please.

If you know any movies with strong literature themes feel free to suggest those as well, or tv shows with book clubs.

Thanks in advance :)Good movies with book clubs in them...recommendations please?
I don't know of any other films that have such a central book club theme. There are some TV shows that feature a book club-related episode... For example, the American version of The Office has a book club in "Branch Wars" (series 4, episode 6). But nothing noteworthy.

There was a fairly short-lived Scottish television series called "The Book Group" (2002-2003), which was about a book group and its members' lives. Offbeat comedy. If you can access http://www.hulu.com, it is available on there. However, the show is rated for mature audiences, so it probably doesn't fit your criteria... - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0276650/

For literature-themed movies, I might be able to give some more help! I recommend:

Dead Poets Society (1989): Boys in a private American boarding school learn life lessons from their English teacher. This is a very good film with a strong cast, great script, and beautiful cinematography. Rated PG (UK %26amp; US) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097165/

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged (2000): All of Shakespeare's works in an hour and a half...with just three male actors?? Oh yes! Absolutely hilarious and any English major's dream play. It's been released on region 1 DVD (the live stage play is roll on the floor funny as well). Not rated, but decently family-friendly (probably would be under 12A, even) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0301126/

Stranger Than Fiction (2006): A man realizes he's the main character in a book that's being written. It's a comedic drama, I suppose. It's quite clever. Rated 12A (UK)/PG-13 (US) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420223/

Inkheart (2008): A man has the ability to bring book characters to life by reading aloud. This is an engaging fantasy movie, based on a book. Rated PG (UK %26amp; US) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0494238/

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003): Characters from different books (from Tom Sawyer to the Invisible Man to Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde) band together to defeat a literary villain. Rated 12 (UK)/PG-13 (US) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0311429/

The History Boys (2006): A play-turned movie about English schoolboys studying for their A-levels to get into Oxford and Cambridge. Clever, quick-witted script, but certainly has some adult themes. This one misses your 12A requirement, but I felt it worthy of being on the list (wait a few years and check it out, if you prefer!). Rated 15 (UK)/R (US) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464049/

Hope this helps. The links are so you can further check out the films that appeal to you!
