Are book clubs fun or lame?

I love to read and so do alot of my friends.I was thinking of starting my very own book club!But if it's time consuming and boreing after a while then please share.What do you do and say??Thanks everyone who reads this:)Are book clubs fun or lame?
It's very time consuming to read through so many books just to pick one to promote for each meeting. But to get together on a monthly basis or so discuss the book, what you liked and didn't like, the paasages that moved you, the characters you sympathized with, etc., you see that book clubs are a very rewarding experience. I think it's a good idea.
I think you answered your own question, it won't possibly be boring if it's your group of friends and you. Just assign a book to read, have food and drinks, and try not to spend too much time discussing the book to the point of boredom. Good luck!Are book clubs fun or lame?
A book club or any club is as fun as you make it, if you guys have fun when you meet up and discuss the book then I wouldn't say it was boring and time consuming.....
