I need some suggestions for a good chapter book for third grade book club?

Large book club - both boys and girls, need a good chapter book appropriate for 3rd grade readers. Sometimes "Scholastic" books are not readily available so would like to stay away from that publisher. Kids have to buy the book.I need some suggestions for a good chapter book for third grade book club?

Franny K Stein by Jim Benton (series with illustrations)

Hatchet by Gary Paulsen (might be a bit too much for some)

Bone by Jeff Smith (graphic/comic but kids that age love it)

I would say Vladimir Tod yet i believe that may be a bit to mature for their age. Try Percy Jackson and the Olympians, or The Fire Within. All are book series, but they are really good and age appropriate as far as i think.I need some suggestions for a good chapter book for third grade book club?
