Do you mean a book club? or book group?
If you mean a book group, where people discuss books they have read, try your local library. As they quite frequently run their own book groups. The advantage of this is that the books are pre-chosen, and the library makes sure it has copies for the members of the book group.
Otherwise, try a local search on whatever search engine you use.
Your library will have a book club. The bookstores usually have them, too. There are online book clubs - yahoo.groups(http://groups.yahoo.com/) has many. A friend and I began a book club two years ago. We each asked a couple of other women if they liked reading and would be interested in a book club. Some of these women we hardly knew - just knew them from church or parents of our kids' friends. Word spread quickly and we had to limit the number to join (we now have 9 members, but usually only 6-7 participate each month). Here's a site to get you started.How do I find a book club to join??
Speak to a friend or two who shares your passion for reading. Get together to discuss what you are reading. Then ask each friend to invite another friend or two. In a while, the group will grow and you can set up some kind of regular schedule, meeting place, and ways to choose a book.

Curious incident of the dog in the night-time book club help?
My group was assigned the first 20 pages of the book, "the curious incident of the dog in the night-time". We have to do a 3 person group book club (discussion) in-front of our class while our teacher marks us on what we say in the discussion. When analyzing the first 20 pages i couldn't find enough important details in the story. I need help finding important things in the first 20 pages that i can discuss in the book club. Does the dog symbolize anything? Help would be appreciated!Curious incident of the dog in the night-time book club help?
Here are some ideas about what you talk about on the first 20 pages:
Talk about the chapter numbers - how they start at two and go up as prime numbers. At first, this makes you think "what's going on? where's chapter 1?!", and then you understand that it is the boy's favourite numbers. So the chapter numbers tell you about the boy's character - he's almost obsessed with numbers.
Talk about the drawings. You don't normally see drawings like these in a book. They are the boy's drawings and he's supposed to have drawn them for you - for the reader. He tells you they can't understand most of the expressions, though they are very easy expressions. The pictures too tell you about the character of the boy - he's not very good at understanding other people. He's autistic.
Talk about how the book it supposed to be written by a boy. Try to find the things that make you think it is a boy and not a man. Does he use childish words? Does he think childish things? Does he do childish things?

My friend hosts a book club and this months book is the second Anne of Green Gables but I didn't even like the first so I am not to excited to read the second, would it be rude to just not go because I don't want to read the book or should I read it and go for my friend? I always encourage reading anything and everything, but it's entirely up to you. Would your friend be offended if you weren't there? Maybe you should ask her and base your decision on her response.

BCA (world books) is reputable and reliable...they are owned by W.H.Smith. I joined them but cancelled after having met my committment as there wasn't a huge choice of books that I would choose.
I had no problem with them tho'....just be sure to get your orders in on time.
If you read quite a lot, and can afford slightly cheaper than the shops books, then most are ok. Im in BCA and they have some good offers. They aren't a scam, just be wary of joining a "specialist" one. If you want to join a "Swindon" based one, the best is World Books, as they give you access to all the other clubs that come under the company's "umbrella".
The Reader's Union ones are all specialist ones, and you can struggle finding the required 4 books in the year.
My membership of one of the "Swindon" clubs has just been changed to VIP, as I've been a member for so long, and it means I do not have to return the slip, as I no longer have an editor's choice offered. (But you can now accept/reject online, so that should no longer be a problem.)
There are other alternatives out there though. Amazon are very competitive on their prices, The Book People, (as someone else has mentioned...they also visit work places regularly,) The Works, discount book shop can turn up some gems.
There are two other's, Waterstone's...most towns have at least one branch, regularly have 3 for 2 promotions, and other promotions, which are all very helpful.
And lastly, there is the "Love Reading" website, the books are discounted, and you can read preview chapters, with no commitment.

I always cross reference the prices with Amazon and go with the cheapest, sometimes it鈥檚 one, sometimes it鈥檚 the other, it depends on what sort of deals they have going and whether you are prepared to buy in bulk 鈥?the more you buy from a book club the better the deal.

I like netflix, because I get suggested movies I might like based on my ratings and choices of what I rent.
Do you know of any book sites like this? I try to just browse the book store for books in similar catorgories..but sometimes I get stuck with books that are just poorly written or hard to read.
