How do most book clubs pick their book selections?

I've belonged to a book club for a couple years and it seems that there's only a couple people who keep selecting the books for everyone else to read. Others in the book club don't have much of a chance to select books because it seems that their voices are not being heard. Also, the books that seem to get selected are most often really bad books. However, I really like the people in my group and I would hate to quit the club.

If you belong to a book club or have good advice, I would like to know how most book clubs go about picking their selections.

Thank you for your time and have a great day!How do most book clubs pick their book selections?
Start your own club.

I belonged to a group that had the same people making selections time and time again.

I started my own book club that meets monthly. We make a schedule 6 months at a time, selecting two books per month. Every member submits a couple of suggestions. We blindly draw selections. I have to weed out duplications, but everyone seems to like it this way.How do most book clubs pick their book selections?
Our book club keeps the selection process very loose. If it becomes too rigid, then it's a job rather than a diversion. Usually, we'll talk about something we've read in the past month, not necessarily advocating for it, just giving a brief summary and telling something about why we liked it. Of the books that are mentioned, we usually agree on one. We tie our potluck luncheon in with that month's chosen book...Chinese food for Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, Afghani food for The Bookseller of Kabul. We're a group of six..it might not work for a larger group but it is certainly the highlight of my month's activities.
