Has anyone ever joined one of those book clubs?

I am thinking about joining a book club. The deal is I get five books at 20 cents each plus S%26amp;H, and then I'm joining the club. I am obligated after this to buy four more books within the next year, at the regular price. They also said something about sending a catalog, and automatically sending a book of their choice if I don't refuse it within ten days. Which I think I could handle, if that's truly the way it works. So my question is, has anyone else done this? If so, is it a scam, or is it a good way to get books at a discounted price? It's not a scam, BUT be careful, if you don't send back the card with the catalog by the due date, you'll get a new book in the mail (and a bill for it).



Call them, and ask how you get off the mailing list when you've fulfilled your obligation.



I eventually marked (RETURN TO SENDER) on packages that they sent me for a couple of months. Then, they stopped sending me automatic shipments, and eventually stopped sending me the catalogs.
